Connor Lind: northern beaches man charged with further sexual assaults

A former private school rugby player and cheerleading coach has been hit with new charges following an investigation into alleged sexual misconduct.

A former private school rugby player and competitive cheerleader is facing fresh sexual assault charges months since his initial arrest.

Connor Lind, 20, was first arrested at his Kirrawee home on August 10 after a three-month investigation into claims he allegedly sexually assaulted two teenage girls.

Police allege Lind sexually assaulted two girls – then aged 14 and 15 – on numerous occasions at an Allambie Heights address between December 2020 and May 2021.

He was then charged with four counts of sexual intercourse with a child and one count of intentionally sexually touching a child.

But detectives from the Central Metropolitan Child Abuse Unit descended on Lind yet again in the early hours of October 1 after a third complainant came forward.

Documents tendered to Hornsby Local Court indicate police will further allege Lind sexually assaulted a third female – whose age was not stated – in Parramatta in November last year, and on another two occasions in Allambie Heights on January 1 this year.

Lind is now charged with a further three counts of sexual intercourse without consent in relation to the third female’s complaint to police.

He is yet to formally enter pleas to the charges and has remained on conditional bail since Magistrate Philip Stewart granted his application at Sutherland Local Court on August 11.

Court documents relating to the first two complainants state Lind is alleged to have had sex with the 14-year-old girl three times – in December 2020, March 2021 and May 2021 – and sexually touched her genitalia.

Police further allege Lind had sex with the 15-year-old girl in April.

Lind was not required to appear at Hornsby Local Court for his latest mention, where his solicitor acknowledged it was likely the police would handle charges related to all three complainants together.

Magistrate Robyn Denes adjourned the matter for charge certification to Downing Centre Local Court on January 27, whereafter Lind is likely to be committed to the District Court.

Lind’s parents put up a $20,000 surety for his release on bail in August and he is required to report to Sutherland police every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

He is forbidden to enter the northern beaches suburbs of Allambie Heights and Frenchs Forest – where he is from and his family still lives – while he remains on bail.

Lind is a graduate of the prestigious St Augustine’s College in Brookvale, where he played in the school’s 2nd XV rugby union team.

He currently plays Rugby Sevens with Phoenix Sporting Academy, a rugby development and training program on Sydney’s north shore.

Lind was also a cheerleader with Aussie Gems Cheer, an elite USA-style competitive cheerleading club on the northern beaches.
