An elderly man has crashed into a Lilli Pilli bakery this morning.
The man was treated for minor injuries by paramedics at the scene.
No customers were in the Lilli Pilli Patisserie Cafe (inside the Lilli Pilli IGA shop complex) at the time of the incident.
Shop owners estimate the damage will cost $30,000 to $40,000 to repair.
Just after 10am emergency services were called to the corner of Wentworth and Port Hacking Rd in Caringbah South following reports a car had crashed into the front of the bakery.
Police said there was no major structural damage to the building.
The front of the man’s car appeared to be covered in icing.
On their Facebook page, Lilli Pilli Patisserie Cafe wrote: “Today there was an accident where a car crashed into the bakery.”
We are so grateful that none of our staff or customers were hurt and we are thankful for all of the bystanders that helped out.”
The owners told the St George Shire Standard they were unlikely to reopen until next week as they await an assessment of potential structural damage.
More to come.
