Officers from the Professional Standards Command established Strike Force Sum in September 2021 to investigate allegations a constable – attached to a command in the Central Metropolitan Region – had recorded and distributed intimate images.

Alexander James Cox, 29, who works at St George Police Station in Kogarah, was charged with one count of intentionally record intimate image without consent and two counts of intentionally distribute image without consent on July 20.

Court documents reveal Cox allegedly intentionally recorded himself having sex with a woman who at the time did not know she was being recorded and did not consent to the recording being made.

It is further alleged Cox showed the recording to two men and a woman.

Cox did not appear in Sutherland Local Court in August for the first mention of his case.

In court last week, Cox’s lawyer formally entered pleas of not guilty to all charges with a three-day hearing set for April 16.

The court heard there will be more than 10 witnesses required to give evidence.

Cox is not subject to bail conditions and he was suspended from duties with pay.
