PASHA Bevan will be among the youngest rowers representing Australia when he competes in the World Rowing Junior Championships in the Netherlands next month.
The 16-year-old from Waverton is this week’s Junior Sports Star nominee.
Pasha trains at the Sydney Rowing Club and Sydney International Regatta Centre.
He counts winning state and national titles for his school, Shore, as his biggest achievements to date and wants to make the Olympics one day.
Pasha has held the prestigious position of stroke, the lead rower who steers the crew, for his school’s 1st VIII team for two seasons.
He became Shore’s youngest stroke for the senior 1st VIII team and won his school’s Bow Flag award.
Pasha said his selection on the national team was “a massive surprise”.
“Suddenly I was just competing at schoolboy level and then I got asked to try out for this,” he said. “We hope to finish on the podium.”
Pasha has followed in the footsteps of his father, who was also a Shore rower in the 1st VIII team.
