Jai Sillars prefers to let his actions do the talking.

And the 13 year-old’s actions on the footy field tell a very exciting story.

Since Jai first started playing rugby league with the Dundas Shamrocks three years ago, the young star from West Ryde has become a cornerstone of his team, leading them to back-to-back premierships.

As well as scoring a whopping 72 points this season, Jai also stepped up when it mattered most- scoring two tries in this year’s grand final to rescue the Shamrocks from a 12-0 deficit.

His achievements have earned him a spot in the Balmain Tigers development squad.

His quick rise and natural talent for the sport has also been recognised by the Balmain Tigers after they accepted him into their development squad earlier this year.

“He’s achieved a lot over a very short period of time,” said Jai’s grandmother Marie.

“He loves soccer but he’s not really built for it so when his friends asked if he would like to come and play league, he just slotted right in. Everything just took off from there.”

Marie said she was proud of how Jai has developed since he started playing.

“The sport has done wonders for him and his confidence,” she said.

“I have had so much pleasure seeing him grow into a pleasant, humble and talented league player.”
