ROMEO Castelen — writing exclusively for the Rouse Hill Times — tells the inside story of his second-half heroics that spurred Western Sydney to an incredible win.

AFTER scoring a hat-trick and coming back from being 3-0 down in our semi-final against Brisbane Roar, it is safe to say that a little miracle happened.

The game went into extra time, we sealed the game and made it into the grand final. The fact we’re the first team since the National Soccer League started in 1977 to win a match after being three goals down shows the character of the boys and everything we had worked on since day one.

We never lost faith so it was amazing to see our last ever game at Wanderland [before it’s demolished] have everything come together in the end.

The belief that even when we were down, we were going to come back was incredible. After scoring the free kick everything came into place.

Brendon Santalab put another goal into the net and we all went back into the dressing room. You could see in everyone’s eyes that this was going to be our game and we wouldn’t let it slip.

We worked so hard all season and now we had the chance to get closer to securing the biggest prize in Australia. The belief that we all share among us was something that was instilled since the first day I arrived at the Western Sydney Wanderers.

The boys are tremendous workers and our coaches want to give their all for the club.

We have an amazing group together and you can see that in the way in which we played football this season. In every game we have had difficult periods but we have always fought back and controlled the game.

The most important thing for us was to always stay calm and just play football.

We are now one step closer to achieving our main goal of becoming the champions of Australia and I hope my next column to you is all about bringing the trophy back to Western Sydney.

If you’re not making the trip to Adelaide you can watch the grand final on Sunday afternoon on Fox Sports 505 and SBS2.
