Bondi’s Michael Lokic bagged himself and his pals a share in a $100,000 Audi with a stunning hole in one.
The incredible shot was the highlight of another successful Coogee Bay Hotel Charity Golf Day – which is in its 22nd year.
South Sydney Rabbitohs captain Sam Burgess and former NRL star Braith Anasta added some celeb power to the event but it was Mr Lokic who was the real star of the day at Bonnie Doon Golf Club.
His friends, Mitch Green, Jacob McGrath and Anthony Vasilis, owe him quite a few drinks, as they all agreed to share any prize they won.
Burgess, who has been ruled out of the Great Britain Lions tour due to a shoulder injury, was not able to play at the event on Thursday but was on hand to show his support.
The Rabbitoh’s player was amazed to learn someone had scored a hole in one.
“I said what have they won and they pointed at the Audi (a brand new $100,00 Audi S5 coupe).
“It is the best hole in one prize I’ve ever seen.
“I went up to the group and they were obviously over the moon they were jumping up and down.
“Before the day they said whatever we win we’ll split so it is being split four ways, it is amazing.
“They’ve had a great day and the day itself is for a great cause.”
Chris Cheung, managing director of C!NC Hotels that includes the Coogee Bay Hotel, said this was the first time in the charity golf day’s 22-year history that anyone had scored a hole in one - and it was a mighty 165m shot from the par 3, 11th hole.
Burgess was at the charity golf day with Anasta, who established a sports management company called Searoo Sports, aimed at golf and rugby league athletes, last year.
Burgess said he’d recently bought into Searoo that represents the likes of Australian Open 2018 runner-up Dimitrios Papadatos who also took to the greens at the Bonnie Doon Golf Club for the charity day yesterday.
Anasata, a keen golfer himself, described the Coogee Bay Hotel’s Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation fundraiser as “always a great day”.
Mr Cheung said the fundraiser started 26 years ago with POWcH Day, where for every schooner that was purchased at Coogee Bay Hotel they gave a dollar to the Prince of Wales hospital. Four years later the charity golf days launched.
“The charity golf day have been running for 22 years and this year we are hoping to break the $3 million mark,” Mr Cheung said.
TV sports presenter Tim Gilbert, who was MC for the charity golf day lunch, said: “It is so great to be able to combine raising money with a charity like the Sydney Children’s Hospital”.
