NSW Premier Cricket: Anthony Sams claims Randwick Petersham record
His brother Daniel might be making his name in the elite levels of the game but Anthony Sams is proving a big hit himself in cricket circles.

With his first wicket of the innings in his first match of the new Premier Cricket season Anthony Sams wrote his name in crickets record books.
But the veteran cricketer, who owns Anthony Sams Private Training at Peakhurst, is as proud of his longevity in Premier Cricket which has spanned more than a decade and which he hopes will last a few seasons more.

The older brother of Sydney Thunder gun Daniel, the wicket keeper and right hand bat got Belvidere Cup champions Randwick Petersham off to a winning start this seaopsn with his (107) 10th century.

The proud clubman also became the foundation club’s best wicket keeper ever when he broke the alltime club record for dismissals.
Even on 363 with Andrew Milligan - who played in the 1990s to 2002 - at the end of last season, he went one better in the opening match of the 2020/21 season last month.
“I’m pretty proud of playing and surviving as long as I have. I’ve been playing grade since I was 17 and pretty much non-stop since I was 21,” Sams said.

“I’m pretty proud of that achievement. I’m pretty sure not many people can say that.
“To have a record that will last so long is something nice to look back on.
“But the biggest thing for me is winning trophies for Randwick.
“We have won every team trophy we can - the Belvidere Cup, we have won the one day comp, we have won a couple of T20 comps and the club champs as well.’’
The 32-year-old and his younger brother grew up in Millperra with Sams playing his junior cricket with Panania RSL, the same team as the Waugh brothers, Steve and Mark, and has been with Randwick Letersham for 11 years.
