A drug dealer caught with a sawn-off shotgun and bags of MDMA and cocaine in his bedroom during a police raid in Maroubra has pleaded guilty to a string of offences.
Omar Eid, 43, was arrested following a police raid inside his Broome St share house in Maroubra on Wednesday, July 29.
It was one of 11 search warrants carried out that day by Strike Force Caladenia across Sydney’s inner suburbs.
The strike force operation – targeting drug supply – netted 16 arrests and the seizure of illegal drugs including ketamine, cocaine and MDMA.
Eid, who works as a full-time carer for his mum, was refused bail in court following his arrest.
He appeared back in court on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to his nine charges including supply a prohibited drug (MDMA), deal with proceeds of crime, and possess shortened firearm.
The agreed facts stated police raided the Broome St home about 6.45am and found seven people inside, including Eid, all sleeping in separate rooms.
Police spoke to all the occupants and searched the rooms.
Inside Eid’s room, police found $7850 cash, a Colt pistol and sawn-off shotgun, seven MDMA capsules, two bags with further MDMA, two bags of cocaine, one bag of cannabis, 14 boxes of ammunition and an ammunition belt.
“Both firearms were located in bags along with various ammunition and were not stored in a safe or lawful manner,” the agreed facts stated.
Eid had earlier confirmed with police that no-one else occupied that room but himself.
Eid’s lawyer said police were yet to confirm the weight of the drugs seized.
The court heard further charges could also be laid against Eid in future.
Eid’s matter has been adjourned until October 28 for sentence. He did not apply for bail.
