A young plumber has pleaded guilty to supplying ketamine after police busted into his bedroom in Randwick during an early morning raid.

Milo Cardwell, 20, was fast asleep in bed with his girlfriend when police stormed a house on Arthur St about 6am on July 29, court documents stated.

The raid was one of 11 search warrants carried out that day by Strike Force Caladenia across Sydney’s inner suburbs.

The strike force operation – targeting drug supply – netted 16 arrests and the seizure of illegal drugs including ketamine, cocaine and MDMA.

Cardwell, a former Rose Bay Secondary College student, was granted bail in court following his arrest and was collected by his parents at Waverley Police Station.

He appeared back before Waverley Local Court on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to a string of offences including supply prohibited drug (ketamine), two counts of possess prohibited drug, and two counts of possess restricted substance.

The agreed facts stated he was fast asleep next to his girlfriend inside the Arthur St premises where “a number of other persons” were also staying in separate rooms. There is no suggestion of wrongdoing by his girlfriend.

Police forced entry through the front door before shuffling all the occupants into the living room.

The agreed facts stated police searched the premises and asked Cardwell if there was anything in his room to which he stated “some ketamine”.

Police found 17.88g of ketamine powder, 1g of MDMA, two vials of steroids, and four cannabis resin infused gummy bears inside his room.

Scales and a large number of small clear bags were also found inside his room and police alleged he possessed the ketamine for supply.

Police also found other illegal drugs in the premises.

Cardwell, who now resides in Maroubra, appeared in Waverley Local Court on Wednesday supported by his lawyer and father.

Magistrate Allison Hawkins accepted his pleas of guilty on all charges and adjourned the matter until September 30 so he could begin a drug program.

The other alleged offenders charged during the Strike Force Caladenia operation remain before the courts.
