Nathan Peters speaks as Matthew Wright faces court over alleged stabbing

A man left fighting for his life after an workplace incident has spoken of making the most of his second chance. It comes as the man alleged to have stabbed him faced court.

A man left fighting for his life after an alleged stabbing has vowed to make the most of his “2end chance” [SIC].

City of Sydney council worker Nathan Peters, 22, took to Facebook following a lengthy stay in hospital following the incident on November 5.

It comes as Matthew Wright, from Belrose, who police allege stabbed Mr Peters, had his case mentioned in court on Thursday.

The 23-year-old has been in custody since the incident in early November at City of Sydney’s Alexandra Canal Depot.

Police allege Wright stabbed him multiple times including in the head and neck about 2pm that day.

Police said Mr Peters’ work colleagues helped stem the bleeding and may have saved his life.

Wright was arrested at the scene and has not been released on bail since.

His matter was briefly mentioned in Central Local Court on Thursday and adjourned until February.

He did not apply for bail, which was refused, and no plea has yet been entered for his charge of wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

“So wasn’t long ago I got stabbed 9 times,” Mr Peters wrote on Facebook. “(I have) a 2end chance at life and I will not let this chance slip.”

He added “I get to come home tomorrow” in the post which was shared on November 17.

He was reportedly given a blood transfusion at the scene before being transported to St Vincent’s Hospital, following the incident.
