Council worker fighting for life after Alexandria stabbing
A council worker remains in intensive care after allegedly being stabbed by a colleague at City of Sydney depot in Alexandria. His alleged attacker has faced court.

A council worker will remain behind bars charged with the alleged frenzied stabbing that left a colleague fighting for life in an Alexandria carpark on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said 22-year-old Nathan Peters suffered multiple stab wounds to his face, neck and arms in the attack at City of Sydney’s Alexandra Canal Depot about 2pm yesterday.
He was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where he remained in intensive care in a serious but stable condition as of Wednesday afternoon.
Mr Peters’ sister told News Local the family was “still in shock and are devastated about all this”.
“He is stable and we would appreciate some privacy at this stage,” she said.
His alleged attacker Matthew Wright, 23 from Belrose, was arrested at the scene and appeared via audiovisual link at Central Local Court today over the incident.
He did not apply for bail and his matter was adjourned until January 16.
He is facing a charge of wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Officers were called to what police described as a dispute between two City of Sydney street cleaners at a council depot on Bourke Rd, Alexandria on Tuesday about 2pm.
Police have said that work colleagues of the victim helped stem the bleeding and may have saved the man’s life.
The City of Sydney released a statement on Tuesday afternoon saying staff members were receiving support.
“The City of Sydney is aware of an incident involving two contract workers outside its Alexandra Canal Depot in Alexandria around 2pm today,” it said.
“We are assisting police with their investigation and have offered support to all staff at the depot.”
Several staff members at the depot have been questioned by police.
