Bandidos outlaw motorcycle gang member charged over alleged road rage assault at Wahroonga

A bikie has been arrested after a Central Coast driver dared to stop at an orange light before he was allegedly attacked in a shocking road rage assault.

A member of the Bandidos outlaw motorcycle gang has been charged by Strike Force Raptor over an alleged road rage assault that occurred at Wahroonga overnight.

The victim, a 29-year-old Central Coast man, told police he was punched to the ground and kicked by two men about 6.40pm.

It’s believed the incident escalated after the driver of a silver Mazda 3 reportedly became enraged when the car in front stopped at an amber light at the intersection of the Pacific Hwy and the M1.

Police have been told the silver Volkswagon Golf stopped at the traffic lights, then a short time later at the first emergency bay on the M1 at Wahroonga, and both drivers got out of their vehicles.

When the driver of the Golf was allegedly assaulted, a passing motorist intervened and the second vehicle fled the scene.

The Central Coast man was admitted to Hornsby Hospital and treated for facial injuries and bruising but has since been discharged.

Police told the Hornsby Advocate they were able to get a number plate and a person of interest had been identified.

Officers attended a home at Morisset about 9am today, and spoke to a 32-year-old man who was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station and has since been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company.

Police will allege in court that the man was the driver of the Mazda.

He was refused bail and was set to appear at Toronto Local Court earlier today.

Police are still seeking another man in relation to the incident.

Officers from Kuring Gai Police Area Command say the investigation is ongoing and have asked motorists to share dashcam footage.
