A fast-growing suburb in Sydney’s inner south is set to become a bustling business hub following another multimillion dollar office block being approved in the area.
An $81 million office building was approved on Ricketty St in Mascot this month by the Sydney Eastern City Planning Panel.
It will stand 10-storeys tall when complete and help “meet demand for new commercial and office floorspace within Mascot”.
It is the third office building of its kind to recently be granted approval in the growing suburb.
Two other office developments worth $90 million and $52 million were approved last year – with all three buildings set to be built near Mascot Train Station and Sydney Airport.
Large companies such as Qantas already have their headquarters set-up in Mascot which is helping the suburb’s reputation grow as an office and commercial precinct.
Development company Linkcity put forward the plans for the development at 32-34 Ricketty St.
“The proposed development is considered to be key in meeting the demand for new commercial and office floorspace within Mascot,” the proposal read.
“(The project) assists in meeting the rising demand for office floorspace outside of the traditional office centres throughout Greater Sydney.”
The project includes demolition of existing structures at 32-34 Ricketty St.
The project will also feature a ground floor with plenty of commercial space and a cafe, three levels of parking, six levels of office space, and a rooftop area with a basketball court.
During the past decade, Mascot has largely been shaped by an explosion in residential apartment blocks.
