Aydin Kaman refused bail over liquid ecstasy bust in Botany

A man has been arrested in Botany for allegedly importing four litres of gamma hydroxybutyrate (GHB), an illegal drug also known as liquid ecstasy.

Aydin Kaman, 34, faced Central Local Court on Thursday and was refused bail to reappear at the same court next week, after being charged with import commercial quantity of border-controlled drug and two counts of possess prohibited drug.

Australian Border Force officers intercepted a package containing liquid ecstasy in April, followed by another package in May and a third package in August.

The three packages contained a total of four litres of liquid ecstasy.

Following an investigation, a 34-year-old man was identified to be allegedly behind the importation of the illegal substance.

Police executed a search warrant on Wednesday at an apartment in Pemberton St, Botany and allegedly found GHB, ice, cocaine and capsules believed to be MDMA.

On Thursday, South Sydney police returned to the Botany apartment and the 34-year-old man was arrested and taken to Mascot Police Station before facing court.

Investigators will allege that he imported the three separate packages of GHB.

Police inquiries are continuing.
