Alessandro Greco: Daniel Walsh crash death alleged has faced court
A piano tutor and student at Sydney’s Academy of Film, Theatre and Television has faced court on allegations he had cannabis in his system when he crashed into and killed a young sailor. The 29-year-old navy recruit had been preparing to propose to his partner.

A piano teacher who allegedly crashed into and killed a scooter rider while drug affected at Eastgardens has fronted court.
Alessandro Greco, 22, formerly from Italy who now resides in Hillsdale in Sydney’s southeast, was driving a Mitsubishi SUV when he was involved in a fatal crash during the afternoon of May 8 which killed navy sailor Daniel Walsh, court documents stated.
Walsh was riding home from work when he was knocked from his scooter at the intersection of Fitzgerald Ave and Bunnerong Rd, near Westfield Eastgardens.
He died in hospital from his injuries.
Police have since charged Greco with three serious offences including drive vehicle illicit drug present in blood, negligent driving (occasioning death), and dangerous driving occasioning death drive manner dangerous.
Greco fronted Waverley Local Court on Wednesday and sat quietly as his matter was adjourned until September 24.
Police allege in court documents that Greco had cannabis traces in his system at the time of the crash.
No pleas have been entered and he remains on bail.
Greco’s social media posts depict a young man who enjoys travelling across the world and playing and teaching piano.
He also studies at Sydney’s Academy of Film, Theatre and Television, according to his LinkedIn page.
Following the tragic crash, tributes flooded in for navy sailor Walsh, 29, from Little Bay, who was remembered as a “kind and gentle man” by those close to him.
His partner also revealed on Facebook that she found a hidden receipt for an engagement ring at their home days after the crash.
