JOHN and Lisa Scullino had just a few days to get their pet fighting fish babysat so they could appear on Reno Rumble.
The Middleton Grange couple said while the Channel 9 home improvement reality television show is still going to air, they are back to normal life — but their fish is yet to join them back home.
“He really is the easiest pet to get babysat,” Mrs Scullino said.
“My parents like him and want to adopt him.”
Mrs Scullino is a human resources co-ordinator with Estee Lauder and her other half is a carpenter, with his own business, Aria Group Projects.
Mr Scullino, 28, said having his trade was one of the main reasons they wanted to go on the show.
The lovebirds have had a fairytale romance. Two years ago, Mr Scullino pranked Lisa by making her believe she had won a competition to go on Channel 9’s Mornings program and receive a shopping spree voucher.
Even though it was Valentine’s Day, she didn’t put two and two together and, when Mr Scullino went down on one knee live on television, there wasn’t a dry eye in the studio.
Mrs Scullino, 27, said appearing on the show had been a crazy journey.
“It was physically and mentally very difficult to do,” she said.
“I was so out of my depth coming from an office environment.
“I understand the jargon he (John) speaks when he comes home from work now.”
Mrs Scullino is the perfectionist; everything from her personal style to her wedding is planned with precision.
Naturally, their wedding was a true fairytale with no expense spared. An extravagant affair for 350 people including their huge Italian families at Doltone House.
The couple is about to build a house.
They said going on the show had put them through their paces and prepared them for the building of their own home in Sydney’s south west.
