Reno Rumble host Shelley Craft is living the beachside dream in Byron Bay

Home is all about sun, sea and family for this bubbly presenter.

BUBBLY television personality Shelley Craft is appearing alongside host Scott Cam on the latest series of Reno Rumble, which started last month.

“I wasn’t involved in the first Rumble, which was The Block v House Rules,” Shelley says of the Channel 9 home renovation show.

“This one is East Coast v West Coast, which is always a great rivalry.”

While filming has finished for the show, things won’t be quietening down any time soon for Shelley, with production to start soon for a new series of The Block, which will again be based in Melbourne.

When she’s not busy with filming commitments, Shelley loves spending time with her husband Christian and young daughters Milla, 5, and Eadie, 3, at home in Byron Bay on the NSW far north coast.

“It’s a relaxed easy lifestyle that everyone’s very grateful for,” Shelley says.

Shelley and Christian are planning to move from their acreage to be closer to Byron Bay township.

“We bought this house planning to do a major renovation down the track but we’ve decided we’d like to be closer to town,” Shelley says. “The girls have grown up a bit and their interests aren’t necessarily chickens and ponies. Now it’s the beach and my husband is a really keen surfer.”

SHELLEY’S FAVOURITE THINGS

Insence vessel.

Insence vessel: I got this from Bhutan on the last trip I did for The Great Outdoors. It was sitting on a woven rug which I also bought. Something about it encapsulated all my travels.

Porcupine quills: I’d seen some amazing artworks made out of porcupine quills when I was in Africa and my plan was to one day do that myself. So far they’ve just sat in a jar on my coffee table. I love the colours.

Beach name artwork: Jai Vasicek is a Byron Bay-based artist. We bought this when we moved
to Byron Bay as it lists all the beaches that are in Byron and it has a lovely significance for us.
We got married on Belongil Beach. It was the first sentimental piece that we bought in Byron.

Ceramic ball with cave drawings: I picked this up in a town called Ushuaia. It’s the southernmost town in Argentina and it’s the port for Antarctica. I saw it in the window and had to have it.

Rocking horse: His name is Max and he’s lived a very hard couple of years. He was given to my eldest daughter by her grandmother for her first birthday. Max has been through the wars. There’s no doubt he will become a family heirloom.

Cast iron horse: I collected this while I was filming for The Great Outdoors on the Silk Rd in China. I was a massive Monkey Magic fan as a kid and I was really excited that I knew the history of the Silk Rd. Sadly he has lost his tale because my girls took a fancy to him.

Caliber can bomber box:
My husband is the best gift buyer ever. I don’t know how he does it. I always get gift anxiety. That was my last birthday present and it’s a bluetooth speaker made from an ammunition case from World War II. We take it to the beach and we take it on picnics. It’s pretty indestructible.
