SYDNEY’s first Skytrain continues to keep pace with the planned opening in 2019 with all 130 piers in place to support the deck on Windsor Rd, near Rouse Hill Town Centre.

More than 50 per cent of the 4km Skytrain from Bella Vista to Rouse Hill has been completed and around 2.5km of deck installed.

The Sydney Metro Norwest rail link is to run from Rouse Hill under the Sydney Harbour through to the CBD to Bankstown.

Once the Skytrain is built, work will commence on the elevated railway stations at Kellyville and Rouse Hill, two of eight new metro stations in the north west.

The other stations are being built at Castle Hill, Showground Rd, Bella Vista, Cherrybrook, Cudgegong Rd (Rouse Hill) and Norwest.

A spokesman for Sydney Metro said they will now continue to work on constructing the deck for the Syktrain, confirming that work on all sections of the $8.3 billion network is on schedule.

According to Transport Minister Andrew Constance, in addition to the huge work being done for the metro, many jobs are being created for the locals.

“This massive infrastructure investment is supporting thousands of local jobs and creating a positive legacy for the community, and it’s especially great to see young locals taking advantage of the great benefits of such an iconic project,” Mr Constance said.

“We’re getting on with delivering Australia’s biggest public transport project right here in the heart of greater western Sydney, building a world class metro for generations to come.

The $340 million contract for Skytrain is being handled by the Impregilo-Salini joint venture and includes a 270-metre cable-stayed bridge over Windsor Rd at Rouse Hill.

When completed, Sydney Metro Norwest is scheduled to have driverless trains arriving four minutes.
