AUSTRALIAN rock legend Jimmy Barnes pulled in the punters when he visited Dymocks Rouse Hill to sign copies of his autobiography Working Class Man on Monday.

The 60-year-old Scottish-born singer was mobbed by his fans during his hour and half visit to the store to promote his no-holds barred book about his remarkable life and career.

Dymocks Rouse Hill manager Lynne Allister said it was easily one of the most popular book signings in the store.

“Jimmy arrived a bit early and though he had limited time he patiently signed the books for everyone,” Ms Allister said.

“It was fantastic and was one of the most popular book signings we have held, as good as the crowd which (Socceroo star) Tim Cahill had last year.

“Jimmy even spent time with one of his fans who has a terminal illness, chatting to him separately.

“The sister of this fan has contacted Jimmy’s publicists asking permission to meet the singer so it was very exciting for them.

“More than 280 people purchased the book and had it autographed by Jimmy but because he had to leave for a prior engagement, his publicists have promised the other fans, who also purchased copies, that they will mail them signed copies.”

Barnes, born James Dixon Swan, has bared his heart and soul in this best seller and is currently touring the country to promote the book.

Working Class Boy sells at $32.99 at this store though the recommended retail price is $45.

Dymocks Rouse Hill regularly has celebrity authors visiting the store with ex-Australian Test cricketer Mitchell Johnston scheduled to promote his book in November.
