Cannabis, cocaine found by police during patrols

THREE  people, including a 16-year-old boy, were charged with supplying and possessing drugs in Kellyville in the past week.

“These arrests have arisen from clever patrolling using information gathered from intelligence about locations and suspects,’’ he said.

“There is no particular trend in the area, but we are putting the right resources on the right place at the right time.

“We have also had great help from the community.”

On Friday at 10pm, police were patrolling Wrights Rd in Kellyville when they saw a man walk up to a white Nissan ute, where another man was sitting.

The first man sat inside for a short time before leaving.

Police approached the ute and spoke to the man inside.

As a result of the conversation, they carried out a search, finding 17.3g of cocaine divided up in resealable bags and $4900 in cash.

The 27-year-old Kellyville man was charged with two counts of supplying a prohibited drug, possession of a prohibited drug and knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime.

On Saturday morning, while patrolling Macquarie Ave, Kellyville, police noticed a group of young people sitting around a park bench.

Some time after 9am, police approached the group and noticed a boy near a soft drink bottle that was turned into a bong.

The boy allegedly admitted to having cannabis in his bag.

Police searched the bag and found a 14cm knife, 155g of cannabis and three clear resealable bags containing MDMA.

The 16-year-old Beaumont Hills boy was charged with two counts of possessing a prohibited drug, one count of supplying a prohibited drug and being in possession of a knife in a public place.

Last Thursday night, during another patrol along Wrights Rd in Kellyville, police saw a car pull up next to another car parked in the shopping centre carpark.

Officers saw a man get out of one car and enter the other.

He then got back into his car and drove off.

Police approached the parked car and asked the driver whether he had any drugs on his possession.

The man allegedly answered: “Yes, they are in my backpack.”

Police found a set of electronic scales, resealable clear bags, two glass jars containing up to 112g of cannabis and $750 cash in the backpack.

The 18-year-old Riverstone man was charged with supplying and possession of a prohibited drug, plus having goods in custody.
