NOT even the heat could prevent Australian star and Quakers Hill local Kyah Simon from putting her enthusiastic group of girls through their paces at her two-day football clinic at Valentine Sports park, Glenwood.
Simon hasn’t forgotten her beginnings at Quakers Hill Junior Soccer Club and Hills Brumbies and regularly holds clinics here and other parts of NSW in a bid to give back to the community despite her busy Australian and international schedule.
The 25-year-old Matildas striker shared her immense skills, passion and experiences with more than 40 girls aged between 8-18 during the four-hour sessions at the western Sydney home of Football NSW over two days.
“I enjoy teaching the children specially the girls because when I began, we didn’t have separate girls and boys training,” Simon told the Rouse Hill Times.
“Things have definitely changed a lot since I began playing as a kid as I had to train and play with boys.
“The clinics went very well and though it was hot, we had a lot of fun and the girls enjoyed it a lot.
“I am always interested in coaching and like the opportunity of sharing my experiences with the girls as I love football.”
