KELLYVILLE High School wants to use the recent success of its junior boys and girls football teams as a springboard to become a powerhouse in NSW competitions.

The boys team continued their impressive run of form from last season to win the Wanderers

School Cup qualifying tournament and are this week’s nominees for the Junior Sports Star Team Spirit Award, which is sponsored by SportsTG.

The boys won all their three games in the Granville section of their qualifying competition while the girls team came third in their regional comp.

Coach Stephen Oguguom said they have high hopes for their football teams.

“This year’s performance is the second time in a row that the Kellyville High School team has excelled in this competition,” Oguguom said.

“As a soccer coach, I am excited over the increasing number of skilful players that are coming through the ranks at a junior level.

“Our ambition is to become a soccer powerhouse in NSW all-school competitions and to groom skilful and highly responsible soccer players to further develop soccer in Australia.”

Mr Oguguom said there is a passion among students to excel in all football competitions.

“Most importantly, we are fortunate to receive strong support from our parents,” he said.

They will play their state final on Thursday, October 20.

The team: Peter Panayi (captain); Adnan Shah, Avaneesh Kalidasan, Ross MacDonald, Jackson Gay, Nikolai Lapardin, Jarrod Hately, Lachlan Halim, Jake McCahon, Calum Martin, Alex Shim, Jesse Watson, Kai Lynch, Riley Danson (4 goals), Khaild Amiri, Connor Gilbert and Fardos Shakori.

The Junior Sport Star program is sponsored by Rebel. To nominate a promising junior, team or dedicated club volunteer, visit juniorsportsstar.com.au.
