Olivia Todorovitch is a youngster born with sporting talent.
In addition to her favourite sport of football, the 12-year-old from Quakers Hill is also involved in athletics, cross country, OzTag, touch football and basketball.
This week’s Junior Sports Star Award nominee, however, is focused on making it big on the football field, and her recent international experience with Marconi Stallions at the Dana Cup in Denmark has certainly been an eye-opener.
“This was my first overseas trip and since we were the sole team from Australia, it made it more special,” Olivia said.
“We won three out of the five matches in our group and the team which beat us went on to win the title.
“It was a great experience and I would love to go there again.”
The Dana Cup is one of the world’s biggest junior football tournaments, attracting more than 20,000 players from 45 countries. Olivia and her teammates were given special training by former Barcelona coaches and players in the week before the championships.
Olivia, who comes from a very sporting background, began her football with Quakers Hill Junior Football Club, the same venue where Matildas star Kyah Simon also began her now famous career.
“I played at Quakers Hill club until I was eight and then moved to the Blacktown Spartans for three years,” the St John Paul II Catholic College student said.
“This year I started playing at Marconi Stallions in the under-13 girls National Premier League Division One competition, which is challenging.
“I prefer playing upfront for the club and the school and would like to progress in my game.”
