MATILDAS star Kyah Simon, who began her football career in Quakers Hill, is returning to her western Sydney roots, to kick start her first personal football clinic for young girls at Glenwood.
The 24-year-old striker is currently in Japan for the Olympic qualifiers but is also focused on imparting her skills and sharing her experience with girls aged between 10-18.
The two-day Kyah Simon Football Clinic will be held at Valentine Sports Park, Glenwood, on March 12 and 13.
“I am excited to launch my first ever all girls football clinic,” the former Rouse Hill Times Junior Sports Star said.
“Since I was eight, football has been a major part of my life and brought me so much joy, many wonderful experiences and many lifelong friends.
“I am passionate about football and determined in helping our future generations be the best footballers they can be.
“I hope to inspire the girls through sharing my experiences throughout my professional career, how I got to where I am today and have them leaving with a new sense of belief within themselves, empowered and motivated to chase their dreams.”
The brilliant forward first began playing at the Quakers Hill Junior Soccer Club, which annually awards its top player with the Kyah Simon Golden Boot Award.
The Sydney FC and Boston Breakers striker said the clinic will teach the girls new skills and help them gain confidence.
“My mission is to create a fun-filled football environment, where the girls can learn new skills and develop in areas they didn’t think possible,” Simon said.
“The experienced coaches and I will be teaching you new skills involving control, dribbling, passing, shooting and small-sided games to help you develop as footballers and help you build more of your game.”
After each day, she will tell the group what it takes to play for the Matildas and at the top level of women’s football.
”It’s going to be fun, exciting, challenging and most of all a rewarding experience,” Simon said.
“With determination, big dreams and a lot of hard work, I believe anything is possible.”
The clinic is open to 100 girls.
