A girls’ night out at Panthers ended in an “astonishing, savage assault” following a dispute in McDonalds, a court heard.

Childcare worker Shania Farrell, 26, had been on a night out with pals at Penrith Panthers on June 20 to celebrate her friend Taylor Milner’s 18th birthday.

They entered the club just after 10pm and both were heavily intoxicated, according to court documents at Penrith Local Court.

The group left to go to the nearby McDonalds at around 2.40am.

A group of women stood behind their table to use a power point to charge their phones, according to court documents.

The two groups started socialising but one of the women in the other group and Farrell were not getting along, documents allege.

The other group left the McDonald's and headed towards an Uber in the carpark.

One of the group members tapped on the glass next to where Farrell was sitting.

This prompted her to get up, approach the Uber and pull one of the women from the car by her hair, documents allege.

She is then alleged to have punched her in the face.

It’s alleged she then walked to the driver’s side, leaving the first alleged victim on the floor.

She then allegedly opened the door and grabbed another girl by the hair, and tried to remove her from the Uber.

At this point, Milner is alleged to have approached Farrell and the second alleged victim to try and separate them.

After doing so it is alleged Milner slapped the alleged victim while she was still in the vehicle.

Farrell’s group of friends pulled her away before they left, documents state.

When police arrived shortly after they saw one girl, with swelling to her face, laying on the floor.

She was taken to Nepean Hospital in an ambulance where she was treated for a concussion and had visible bruising around her face and eye.

Farrell was identified on CCTV by Panthers security officers.

On July 6, police interviewed Farrell at her home where the court heard she admitted to taking part in the alleged assault. She also identified herself on CCTV that captured the alleged assault, according to court documents.

Farrell admits to a confrontation but denied punching the first victim in the face, according to court documents.

She was arrested and taken to Windsor police station.

On July 7, Milner went to Penrith police station and admitted to taking part in the assault during an interview, according to court documents.

When shown CCTV of the incident, Milner identified herself reaching into the vehicle to assault the alleged victim and said she only slapped her out of anger after being called fat.

Magistrate Fiona Toose said she was appalled by the behaviour of both women and was astonished at the request for another hearing date as they had not yet arranged for mental health appointments.

“This is absolutely appalling, they’ve done nothing to remedy their actions. This is an astonishing, savage assault,” Magistrate Toose said to Farrell’s lawyer.

She is yet to enter a plea.

Milner has pleaded guilty to one count of common assault.

Farrell is due back in court in December.
