Aaron King, 22, pleaded guilty before Penrith Local Court to possessing a prohibited drug, possessing unauthorised firearms and keeping a firearm unsafely.

The court heard that King, who currently works as a truck washer in Arndell Park, was on two intensive correction orders at the time.

He currently lives with his partner and infant but also had a friend staying with him for several days in June.

On July 15, around 6pm, police were told the friend made threats of self harm so they went to King’s Penrith home where they were greeted by him and his partner at the door.

Police noticed a black bum bag hanging from the wall on a hook and could clearly see the rear grip and magazine of a Glock pistol.

The friend told police he owned everything in the bag from the firearm to the cannabis.

He said it was a gel blaster firearm, telling cops “yeah we just shoot them at each other to the grass out there”, according to court documents.

Police also found a large resealable bag of cannabis that, weighing in at 27g.

King “became agitated” and started to “sweat profusely” when police asked if there were any other firearms in the house, according to court documents.

Police asked to search the home and King walked towards the laundry door and pointed saying “it’s all there”, according to court documents.

Police found three separate bowls of cannabis, one bolt action rifle air blaster and one assault rifle gel blaster.

The firearms were stored on the floor and leaning up against the wall of a laundry.

Once arrested, King admitted he owned the items revealing that he “got the guns from Queensland” and the paperwork for them was “in the top draw”.

The drugs were weighed in their respective containers. They weighed 326g, 31g and 31g. King said it was for personal use.

Both King and the friend were taken to St Marys police station.

“He presently works as a truck washer in Arndell Park so he does contribute to society positively,” King’s lawyer told the court.

Magistrate Fiona Toose advised King to think before reoffending, warning him about the chance of imprisonment.

“You were on an ICO,” Magistrate Toose told him. “You’re already walking a tight line.

“You’ve got prior history of using prohibited weapons. You should be walking a country mile from anything that looks like one.

“Resist the urge to hang out with people who commit offences. You’re an adult and parent, start acting like one. How would you feel if your child got hold of it? If you keep offending, you will go to prison. You’re right on the cusp.”

King was convicted of not keeping a firearm safely, possessing an unregistered firearm, possessing an unauthorised firearm and possessing a prohibited drug for which he was fined $800.

He was given a two year Community Corrections Order and is subject to supervision.

He will also have to undergo drug and alcohol counselling.
