A western Sydney roofer accused of sexually touching a teenage girl on a train in Sydney’s west has pleaded guilty to urinating on a train station, but will fight allegations he touched the girl.

Shannon John Christopher Petersen, 42, pleaded guilty in Penrith Local Court on Friday to behaving in an offensive manner in a public place, stemming from an incident on a train heading from Blacktown to St Marys on October 17.

Court documents state the offensive behaviour was Petersen urinating on St Marys train station.

Petersen is also charged with intentionally sexually touching a child, but has not entered a plea.

The court heard previously, during a bail application, that Petersen is alleged to have “actively approached” a 13-year-old girl on a train heading from Blacktown to St Mary’s before allegedly harassing her and inappropriately touching her.

Petersen remains behind bars on remand and will next face court in Penrith on June 18, where he will go to hearing for the sexual touching charge and be sentenced on the offensive behaviour charge.
