A man who was behind the wheel of an allegedly stolen SUV when it crashed outside a hotel in Sydney’s west, killing a high-ranking Bandidos bikie, is facing further charges over the death.
Bandidos president Peter Martin, 57, was killed when his Harley Davidson motorbike collided with the stolen SUV on the Great Western Highway outside the Prospect Hotel just after 1pm on September 10, 2024.
The Daily Telegraph understands Mr Martin was the president of the local Bandidos chapter in western Sydney.
A fellow rider, a 42-year-old man, also collided with the SUV and survived.
The driver of the SUV, Lojan Rajendran, was taken to Westmead Hospital under police guard for mandatory testing.
The 30-year-old was later charged with driving disqualified, stealing and driving a stolen car and having a knife in public.
He has now been charged over Mr Martin’s death, with additional charges of including dangerous driving occasioning death-drive manner dangerous, dangerous driving occasions grievous bodily harm – drive manner dangerous, negligent driving (occasioning death) and negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm).
Rajendran, who is in custody, faced Penrith Local Court on Friday.
Several people wearing T-shirts with Mr Martin’s face and the words “in loving memory of” were also at court for Rajendran’s scheduled appearance.
He did not make an application for bail, and was remanded in custody to next face court on March 14.
