A father – who’s ex-wife was brutally murdered in her home in an unrelated incident earlier this year – turned to selling cocaine to support his family.

Mikkel Isaac, 31, pleaded guilty to supplying commercial quantities of cocaine and knowingly direct activities of a criminal group, faced Sydney Downing Centre on July 14.

The court heard Isaac, who’s ex-partner was allegedly murdered earlier this year in an unrelated incident, acted as a mere “middle man” in a major cocaine operation led by Darren Peachey, 38.

The court heard Isaac worked part-time at Autobarn to supplement his finances as he was not earning enough to support his family from dealing.

Crown prosecutor Ms Graham said Isaac was “feeding a chain” of drug dealing in the community, linking major dealers and sellers.

“He imposed himself on his wife and friends. Being a middle man is still crucial to the supply of drugs,” Ms Graham said.

“He was the nucleus – the white part of the onion.”

Evidence before the court revealed Isaac had supplied 37.5 grams of cocaine over a one-year period, as heard in court.

Isaac also pleaded guilty to supplying a pistol without dealer or police witness, acquiring a prohibited firearm while subject to a prohibition order, dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception, supplying cannabis (above indictable) and four counts of driving while disqualified.

The court heard Isaac was serving a firearm prohibition order when police seized a .22 “musket” gun.

“It’s a weapon of choice for certain types of offending – capable of being secreted readily,” Ms Graham said.

Isaac’s ex-wife Dayna was allegedly murdered by Paul Sultana at her Penrith apartment earlier this year.

Dayna left behind two young daughters which she had with Isaac.

The 27-year-old’s bloodied body was found by the mother of her new partner, Sultana, with the shocked woman immediately notifying the police.

Dayna’s burnt-out car was found in bushland soon after, and an 11-hour manhunt ensued before Sultana was arrested. He is yet to enter a formal plea.

Isaac shared an emotional tribute to his ex-wife online, posting: “Love you forever and always. I promise I’ll look after our girls until we meet again my angel”.

He also shared touching photos of the former couple’s wedding day and snaps of the pair together during better days.

The pair married in 2017 before splitting in 2021, but remained on good terms before Dayna’s tragic death less than two years later, just months into her new relationship with Sultana.

The court heard Isaac was concerned for his personal finances at the time of offending.

Defence lawyer Slade Howell argued Isaac’s scenario was an “exception”, given he was the primary carer for his daughters who had endured the worst trauma.

Darren Peachey was sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty last year to large commercial cocaine supply and commercial cocaine supply in relation to more than 2kg of cocaine he pushed between June 2020 and March 2021.

Agreed police facts tendered to the court reveal the Glenmore Park father and former Blacktown City Council employee supplied 1275g of cocaine to a syndicate operating throughout parts of western Sydney and Bathurst.

The father supplied a further 850g through smaller-scale, individual deals for which he charged roughly $300 per gram.

Judge Peter Whitford ordered bail to continue, considering Isaac’s need to be free to care for his children.

Isaac will be sentenced on August 11 at Sydney Downing Centre.
