Jordan Morris was just 22 years old when he fled into bushland near Coreen Ave following a lengthy police pursuit.
What happened to Jordan has become one of Penrith’s most intriguing mysteries of the past decade.
Jordan was the passenger in a car that rammed a police vehicle in Mudgee on April 24, 2015.
Some 200km later, the car crashed on a median strip after driving over road spikes on Castlereagh Rd, Penrith.
Three of the occupants of the car were arrested by police, while Jordan managed to escape into bushland near Heartland Holden before entering Boundary Creek.
He hasn’t been seen, or been in contact with any of his family, since he entered Boundary Creek.
He was reported missing by his father on May 26, 2015.
Police investigations found a grey jacket containing $1525, two USB sticks, credit and debit cards, and a phone near the fenceline of Heartland Holden, believed to have belonged to Jordan.
A 2017 inquest into his disappearance heard he hadn’t been in contact with his family since April 24, 2015, and his bank accounts hadn’t been used since April 23.
It also heard Jordan did not submit any Centrelink forms after May, 2015.
Detective Senior Constable Andrew Bennett, who had been tracking Jordan with his police dog, told the inquest he didn’t believe Jordan had left the water, but said his dog’s behaviour did change near Boundary Creek, implying he may have picked up a scent.
Counsel assisting the coroner, Mark Cahill, said the lack of a body mean there was “no evidence Jordan is dead”.
Despite this, Coroner Harriet Grahame found that Jordan had drowned on or shortly after he disappeared in the vicinity of Boundary Creek.
Jordan is still officially listed as a missing person, and anyone who may have relevant information as to his whereabouts is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
