An elderly woman has tragically died after she was hit by a car in Sydney’s western suburbs, and is remembered by friends for her jolly nature, generosity, and kindness.
Lillia Dizon, of Hebersham, was hit by a car reversing out of her driveway on Hazeldean Ave at low speed, according to early reports, and died at the scene.
Lillia’s son John Dizon, 34, is heartbroken at the tragic and sudden passing of his beloved mother.
“It was too quick, we had so much to look forward to we were planning as a family,” Mr Dizon said.
“Holidays to the Philippines and to Hawaii. She was turning 70 next year and was focusing on planning a big celebration.”
Ms Dizon was born in the Philippines and emigrated to Australia in 1987 before starting a family, she had lived at her home for 28 years, and worked full time on a factory assembly line.
She was a beloved mother and grandmother and had been married for 40 years.
“I don’t know what to say except spend every moment that you can with your loved ones,” Mr Dizon said.
Neighbour and close friend of 25 years Vangie Paular said she is in shock after hearing of the tragic accident.
The two have been family friends, and also lived next door to each other in Auburn before they moved across the road from each other in Hebersham.
“It is so very sad. She was a very jolly person, very generous, very kind and caring to her family and friends,” Ms Paular said.
“She was always sending money to her family in the Philippines.
“We were like family. Just last week Lillia was so happy because her son just graduated, so I went with her to the city for the graduation.”
Ms Paular said Ms Dizon would wait outside every day for her ride to work at a factory in Silverwater, early in the morning when it was still dark.
“It is such a tragedy and to happen right in front of her home.”
Police have said a 61-year-old woman who they allege was driving the car was likely picking her up for the day, and has been taken to Mt Druitt hospital for testing.
More to come.
