Domenic Fiorenza sentenced over online child grooming

A western Sydney man who said he liked teens because they “replied to explicit messages faster” has been jailed for offences relating to online grooming.

What to do if you think a child is being abused

A western Sydney man who told a 15-year-old girl on Snapchat he would give her $500 if she gave him oral sex and said he liked teens because they “replied to explicit messages faster” has been jailed.

Warragamba truck driver Domenic Fiorenza appeared in Parramatta District Court on Monday where he was sentenced to three years and three months jail with a non parole period of 20 months after pleading guilty to two counts of using carriage service to solicit child abuse material and one count of using a carriage service to send indecent material to person.

Details of the graphic messages Fiorenza exchanged with a 15-year-old girl, as well as with an account he believed to be a 14-year-old girl but was actually a police officer, were read out in court.

In the messages the 14-year-old ‘girl’ told him she was in Year 9 while Fiorenza gave her his real age of 34 and asked to see her in “sexy little shorts” and sent a picture of his penis, the court heard.

“Would u let me see that underwear or bikini pic of u missy”, he sent.

In one exchange when the teenager demonstrated concern over getting pregnant Fiorenza said he’d rather “pull out” then wear a condom.

Judge Hanley said Mr Fiorenza persisted in the conduct for four months and was quick to take advantage of opportunity to have intercourse with the victims and was aroused by the thought of being their first sexual experience.

Fiorenza disclosed he did have sexual interest in female children and liked teenagers because “they responded quicker to sexually explicit messages…”.

A short time after his arrest Fiorenza begun treatment for these desires in June 2020, and demonstrated a willingness to engage with the treatment being described by his psychologist as a “punctual and reliable patient.”

The court heard during his time in remand the son of his former partner had taken his own life, and because of his bail conditions stopping him from contacting the young man Fiorenza had suffered from PTSD and a considerable amount of grief.

The court also heard Fiorenza was his father’s carer and did not have any known sexual trauma occurring during his childhood or formative years

The judge said while Fiorenza had good prospects for rehabilitation as he had complied with his bail conditions and engaged with treatment his offending was “abhorrent to the community.

He will be eligible for release in June 202
