A man who unleashed a series of attacks on his pregnant partner — including lifting her up by the hair and pelting a box of chicken nuggets at her head when she was driving has been jailed.

Brodie Colville, 24 of Jamisontown appeared at Penrith Local Court to be sentenced for four counts of common assault, two counts of destroy/ damage property, three counts of stalk/intimidate and two counts of breaching court orders.

The court heard the assaults took place over six terrifying months while the victim was pregnant.

On one occasion Colville dragged the pregnant woman by her hair, at one stage lifting her off the ground while screaming abuse at her inside her own home.

In a separate incident when the woman was driving Colville pelted a box of chicken nuggets at her head while sitting in the passenger seat.

The court heard he was screaming abuse at the time using words which Magistrate Stephen Corry chose not to repeat to the court.

The court heard at the time of these attacks the couple’s relationship was “in a bad way” with Colville stressed about the pregnancy. The pair are no longer together.

Following the breakdown of the relationship the victim sought a court order to stop Colville from contacting her. In response the Jamisontown man spray painted her new partner’s car and repeatedly called her on a private number threatening to burn her house down.

One another occasion Colville turned his rage toward his family and stabbed his brother’s PlayStation with a knife, wounding himself in the process..

Colville’s lawyer told the court his client had a “mild but long standing intellectual disability” and there were “funding issues” stopping him from receiving the treatment he needed.

The court heard he had no criminal convictions and had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity.

However, Magistrate Stephen Corry ruled “there was no alternative suitable other than a custodial sentence.”

Colville was sentenced to nine-months jail, with three-months non-parole backdated to February 13. He was also placed on 12-month community correction order and 12-month conditional release order.
