A Port Stephens teenager has escaped conviction after being sentenced for supplying MDMA capsules at the same music festival where Alex Ross-King died in January.

Maddison Croxon, 18, from Mallabula, was sentenced at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday for one count of supply prohibited drug (small quantity) and one count of possess prohibited drug.

Magistrate Richard Funston sentenced Ms Croxon to a conditional release order for a period of 18 months without conviction.

A conditional release order is essentially a warning which includes a good behaviour period during which time the offender cannot commit any further offences.

She was caught in possession of 13 MDMA capsules outside some toilets at a big music festival, FOMO 2019, staged at Parramatta Park on January 12.

It was the same music festival that Central Coast teen Alex Ross-King, 19, attended before being rushed to hospital suffering from a suspected drug overdose.

Tragically, Ms Ross-King died in hospital later that evening.

There is no suggestion Ms Croxon supplied drugs to Ms Ross-King.

Police facts state about 15,000 people attended the festival in January and plain-clothed police were patrolling the front entrance when they spotted Ms Croxon hand an object to another female near some toilets about 2pm.

The female appeared to swallow the object before police could stop her.

Police then took hold of Ms Croxon’s hand and saw that the accused was holding a small orange capsule.

A further search of two bags she was carrying uncovered a box of condoms containing 12 MDMA capsules.

The 12 capsules had been placed in multiple plastic bags and stuffed inside two condoms.

A total of 36 people were arrested at the festival on January 12 including three people who were charged with drug supply.

An inquest into the deaths of five young people following suspected drug use at NSW music festivals will start in July after the coroner receives toxicology reports.

The coroner will examine the deaths of Diana Nguyen, Joseph Nguyen Binh Pham, Callum Brosnan, Joshua Gerard Tam and Ms Ross-King — all aged 23 or younger — at NSW festivals between mid-September and mid-January
