Detectives have ruled out a shooting at Price St, Merrylands, as a targeted incident.
A shot was fired into the home shortly before 9pm on March 25 when the owners found a small bullet hole in a side window.
No one in the double-storey brick house was injured.
Cumberland Chief Inspector Brad Peters said evidence was still being canvassed but the bullet landed in the wrong spot after the projectile was found in the windowsill.
“Investigations up to this point would lead us to believe that that home has not been targeted so the theory is that the bullet may have ricochet from somewhere else or fired randomly at another location,’’ he said.
“And it’s just flown through the area until it’s gone down.
“A lot of these people don’t shoot very well. They don’t have a lot of skill.”
Insp Peter urged witnesses to come forward.
“It’s fundamental these people are caught,’’ he said.
However, police are no strangers to Price St.
The street is home to the mother of nightclub boss John, jailed bikie Sam and drug-runner Michael Ibrahim family home, who lives a few doors down from the house shot at last night.
On November 17, 2018, John’s nephew Sam Sayour was marrying Aisha Mehajer, the sister of notorious Salim Mehajer the next day — when gunfire revisited.
Ibrahim family bodyguard Semi Ngata, who also lived in the street, was shot in the back at 10.45pm after family and friends had spent the afternoon setting up chairs and tables.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Cumberland police on 9897 4199.
