A six-storey medical centre is being proposed for 16 Park Ave at Westmead, a suburb already home to the state’s busiest hospital and hundreds of medical specialists.
Under plans the Sydney Central City Planning Panel is assessing, the facility at the corner of Caroline St would also have a pharmacy, cafe and a basement carpark.
Plans for the $5.6 million medical centre over 1159 sq m were lodged to the panel this week.
If approved, the medical centre would be opposite Parramatta Park and close to Westmead private, public and children’s hospitals, as well as apartment blocks.
A report has also highlighted how the centre would be in a suburb earmarked for the under-construction light rail and metro train line.
“It is apparent that the site has the advantage of good access to both rail and bus
services’’ the report stated.
West of the medical centre, the hospital is part of the State Government’s $1 billion redevelopment which will include a new central acute services building and improve links to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
