Hassan Ghorbani, Ali Reza Mashhadi arrested after $2m of meth allegedly found during Oakhurst, Sydney raid
Police have charged two men after allegedly dismantling a clandestine drug lab containing about $2m worth of meth in Sydney’s west.

Police have charged two men after police allegedly dismantled a clandestine lab containing about $2 million worth of methylamphetamine in Sydney’s west.
Strike Force Kota detectives, with assistance from the Public Order and Riot Squad, carried out the raid at an alleged clandestine lab on Southee Circuit, Oakhurst following extensive inquiries.
NSW Police arrested 54-year-old Hassan Ghorbani nearby and he was taken to Granville Police Station.
Police allegedly located $10,550 in cash and 1.687kg of methylamphetamine with an estimated street value of $2 million.
51-year-old Ali Reza Mashhadi from Guildford was also arrested by detectives and Raptor Squad on Melton St, Granville and taken to Granville Police Station.
Specialist officers from the Drug and Firearms Squad’s Chemical Operations Unit, Forensic Evidence and Technical Services and the Fire and Rescue NSW hazmat team were called in to assist with dismantling the alleged drug lab.
A search warrant was also executed at a home on Osgood St, Guildford. It’s alleged officers seized $8565 in cash.
Both men have been charged with manufacturing a prohibited drug greater than or equal to a large commercial quantity, supplying a prohibited drug greater than or equal to a large commercial quantity and dealing with property proceeds of crime.
They were refused bail by police and both appeared in court on Friday.
Mashhadi appeared by audiovisual link at Parramatta Local Court, with his matter adjourned for brief status on August 17, with an interpreter required.
Oakhurst man Ghorbani appeared briefly at Blacktown Local Court but did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.
Ghorbani has been charged with manufacturing a large commercial quantity of drugs, supplying a large commercial quantity of drugs and dealing with crime proceeds under $100,000.
A police prosecutor formally withdrew a fourth charge of dealing with crime proceeds over $100,000 after stating it was incorrectly laid.
Ghorbani’s matter has been adjourned for brief service to July 27 at Penrith Local Court.
Ghorbani spoke only to confirm he understood the adjournment with the assistance of a Farsi interpreter.
Strike Force Kota was established by the State Crime Command’s Drugs and Firearms Squad and the Region Enforcement Squad Bankstown in May to investigate the manufacture and supply of illicit drugs.
