Call for information: Police hunt for orange jumper man involved in street brawl

Police are on the hunt for an orange jumper wearing man, who was captured by CCTV footage being involved in a street brawl. He is the last of eight people who have been identified by police.

Police are searching for a man in an orange jumper who is seen among a group of men involved in a heated brawl in Parramatta.

Multiple people have already been charged with affray for the fight, which was caught on video by several bystanders and saw the men holding up traffic on Church and Argle streets, in front of the Westfield shopping centre, on Tuesday, June 18.

The footage shows the men fighting and openly carrying knives before trying to stab a fleeing car’s window.

About 1pm on the Tuesday, the two groups of men were involved in the brawl at the intersection.

This included up to nine men, with two wielding knives, and three teenagers, who allegedly assaulted each other on the street, blocking buses, cars and pedestrians.

Shortly after, the footage shows the men returning to their cars and fleeing.

Police were notified of the incident, and officers from the North West Transport Action Group launched an investigation.

Following inquiries, police arrested and charged eight people over the incident.

Two men — aged 22 and 23 — were arrested at Parramatta and charged with affray, and are both currently refused bail to appear at Parramatta Court on Thursday July 25.

A male teenager, 16, was also charged with affray and is currently refused bail to appear at a children’s court on Tuesday, July 2.

An additional three males — aged 23, 21, and 16 — have been charged with affray and are currently granted conditional bail.

The 23-year-old man will appear before Parramatta Court on Wednesday, September 11, the 21-year-old man before Burwood Court on Thursday, August 13, and the 16-year-old boy before a children’s court on Wednesday, July 31.

Two men — aged 21 and 19 — have been charged with the use of offensive weapons with intent to commit an indictable offence, wielding a knife in a public place, affray, and armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, the older man also charged with negligent driving.

Both have currently been refused bail and will appear at Blacktown Court and Parramatta Court on Thursday, August 22.

As inquiries continue, investigators have released the image of a man who they believe may be able to assist.

He is pictured wearing an orange jacket, grey tracksuit pants, brown work boots, and black gloves.
