A 24-hour gym planned for the former Commonwealth Bank site at Pendle Hill has been rejected and will house a Sri Lankan and Indian grocery shop instead.
CWG lodged a development application in March for Anytime Fitness to operate the 24-hour gymnasium at 144 Pendle Way, where the bank operated until September last year.
The 378sq m gym proposed a capacity for 30 patrons, with peak hour expected to be between 6am and 8am and 4pm and 7pm on weekdays.

But Cumberland Council rejected the development application because of CWG’s failure to comply with providing sufficient parking spaces.
A minimum 27 on-site spaces were required but the proposal only allocated two spaces and no parking for disabled drivers despite rules stipulating there must be two per 100 lots.
Parking has plagued the suburb for several years and is becoming worse with the development of a 96-unit complex under construction and a 60-apartment block already standing next to the former bank.
This week, signage for Hill Supermarket, an Indian and Sri Lankan grocery and spice store, was displayed.
Pendle Hill is already brimming with similar businesses, with subcontinental grocery and spice shops dominating the main street of Pendle Way.
