In March 2019, detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad’s Child Exploitation Internet Unit began engaging online with a man from the state’s Mid North Coast.
Police will allege in court that the man believed he was speaking with the 32-year-old mother of an 11-year-old girl and engaged in conversations about sexually explicit acts he wished to perform on the child as well as with the mother and daughter together.
It will also be alleged that the man sent child abuse material before making arrangements to meet the woman and girl for sex.
After extensive investigations, detectives arrested a 49-year-old Coffs Harbour man outside a hotel at Parramatta about 7.30pm yesterday.
They searched a Parramatta hotel room, where they seized a laptop, mobile phones, electronic storage devices and children’s toys, which will undergo forensic examination.
The man was taken to Parramatta police station and charged with inciting a person as an accessory before the fact to attempted aggravated sexual intercourse of a person between 10 and 14 years of age, and using a carriage service for child pornography.
He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today.
Detectives have also searched at a property in Coffs Harbour today, when investigations will continue.
