The son of a former suburban soccer club president who allegedly defrauded half a million dollars is also facing charges of fraud in a separate case, a court mention has revealed.
North Parramatta father and son Noel and Daniel Dona, who are facing separate fraud charges, have been mentioned in court, where the NSW Fair Trading Department is prosecuting their cases.
Former Trinity Realty agent Noel, 57, has pleaded not guilty to 11 counts of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception after allegedly transferring more than $500,000 out of the now-shut Harris Park real estate agency.
NSW Fair Trading alleges the former Sydney Kings mascot and Granville Waratah Soccer Football Club president transferred the money into multiple accounts – including his own, Stacy & Niven Trust A/C, Baldock and Tovaform” between October 2017 and April 2018.
Noel, who allegedly signed five cheques to himself, is pleading not guilty to the charges.
At Parramatta Local Court, a solicitor representing Noel and his son, Daniel, said they could not appear on Friday because they were attending a family funeral and sought an adjournment.
Magistrate Stephen Barlow told the court he wished to get Noel’s case “moving”.
“It’s been going for months,’’ he said. “This is the sixth appearance … it has to progress.’’
A two-day hearing was set for September 25.
Meanwhile, it was also revealed that Noel’s son Daniel is also facing charges in a separate case with prosecutors alleging he transferred more than $10,000 in rental bonds between November 2019 and January 2020.
The 35 year old allegedly submitted claims at North Parramatta, Sydney and “elsewhere in NSW” for refunds to Rental Bonds NSW, falsely claiming it was for a tenant.
The North Parramatta man has been hit with 10 charges of dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception. Three extra charges were laid in February.
The maximum penalty for the offence is 10 years in jail. He has not entered any pleas in the matter, and the case will return to court on March 3.
