A Merrylands senior is behind bars on remand after allegedly sexually touching a young tradie who visited his home to carry out work.

Danny Joseph Brotherton, 64, appeared at Parramatta Local Court today via audiovisual link and pleaded not guilty to two offences relating to the incident which happened early this week.

It is alleged he approached a 17-year-old tradesman and offered to pay him money for a sexual act, after the young tradie visited his Merrylands home to carry out work on Monday afternoon. The teenager rejected his offer.

Mr Brotherton pleaded not guilty today at Parramatta Local Court.

However, on several occasions Mr Brotherton allegedly sexually touched the teenager.

He has pleaded not guilty to common assault and sexually touch another person without consent.

Magistrate Tim Keady refused bail taking into consideration Mr Brotherton’s criminal history which included similar offences.

His case has been adjourned until Thursday, August 22.
