Police are hunting a man who has allegedly destroyed hundreds of Parramatta Liberal MP Geoff Lee’s election posters in the past month.

Videos have emerged of the man vandalising Mr Lee’s posters on Moseley Street at Carlingford earlier this month.

At 1.53am on March 3, he is seen hiding to avoid a passing motorist before he tosses an election poster over a fence.

The next day, at 7.45pm, a resident’s CCTV footage shows him shaking and pulling a campaign poster out of a front yard on Moseley Street.

Mr Lee said he believed the same man had also vandalised his campaign van at North Parramatta in recent days.

He claimed up to 20 of his campaign posters were being destroyed a night across the Parramatta electorate.

“It happened again last night — and it’s been going on for weeks,” Mr Lee, who will seek to win the seat of Parramatta at the third straight state election on Saturday, said.

“This is the ugly side of politics and it’s very sad that someone would be routinely doing this.

“This person is varying the times he does it under the cover of darkness, and was even spotted by a resident recently hiding near my posters at 5.30 in the morning.”

Labor’s candidate for Parramatta, Liz Scully, said the offender was not linked to her campaign.

“I have seen the videos of the vandalism and condemn the actions of this person,” she said.

The Hills Police Area Command Superintendent Jason Joyce said police were now ramping up their investigation into the matter.

“I can confirm police have some of these (vandalism) videos and we’re doing investigations to try and identify who this person is,” Supt Joyce said.
