Another four people — three men and a woman — have been charged as part of an investigation into a shooting outside a house at Merrylands that involves allegations of conspiracy to murder and kidnap.
State Crime Command’s Criminal Groups Squad’s investigation alleges the shooting was part of a conspiracy to murder a man as part of a dispute between a group and several associates of the Nomads bikie gang’s Parramatta chapter over drugs and money.
So far during the investigation, eight men – aged between 20 and 48 – have been arrested over their alleged roles in the incident. They remain before the courts.
On Wednesday, Gerard Arthur Joseph, Kaseem Al Abudi, Dominic Coleman and a woman were charged.
Police raided a unit on the Great Western Highway at Parramatta, at 6am where they allegedly seized a loaded handgun, almost $23,000 cash, 6L of liquid GBL (gamma butyrolactone) and a Taser, which will undergo further forensic examination.
Mr Joseph, of Merrylands, was charged with nine offences including firing a firearm at a dwelling-house with reckless disregard for the safety of any person and participating in a criminal group contribute criminal activity.
Police will allege that he possessed a revolver that was seized at Parramatta on Wednesday.
Mr Al Abudi, of Mt Druitt, was charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling in company, and participating in a criminal group contributing to criminal activity.
Police allege that the men and co-accused Karrar Abdul Karim were involved in an aggravated break and enter at the North Gate apartment complex at North Rocks Rd, North Rocks, and stole a car later used in the Merrylands shooting.
Mr Karim remains before the courts and the other two men were refused bail and ordered to front Parramatta Local Court on Thursday.
No bail application was made and the matters were adjourned to Fairfield Court on November 10.
A 24-year-old Parramatta woman was charged with possessing an unauthorised firearm. She was granted conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on December 1.
Mr Coleman, 20, of Baulkham Hills, was charged with breach of bail and was remanded in custody to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday when he was granted bail and his matter adjourned to December 1.
Police do not allege that Mr Coleman or Mr Al Abudi were involved in the shooting.
