Greater Parramatta is set to benefit from a multimillion-dollar funding commitment to build the Parramatta Light Rail project.
The State Budget, which was released by NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottett on Tuesday, revealed a total of $561 million had been committed for the project this year.
Transport Minister Andrew Constance said transport projects in development and delivery were “game-changers for Sydney”.
“This new line will connect Westmead and Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD and Camellia and is expected to open in 2023,” he said.
Western Sydney Minister Stuart Ayres said the government were building “the Western Sydney of the future”.
“We’re investing in initiatives that focus on better connecting Western Sydney, supporting a skilled community, delivering world-class healthcare, and continuing to make Western Sydney a great place to live.”
The commitment to funding for the Parramatta Light Rail project comes as part of a $55.6 billion allocation to invest in transport infrastructure over the next four years.
