NSW Government confirm $107m for M4 Smart Motorway

Funding for the completion of the M4 Smart Motorway upgrade between Parramatta and Penrith has been confirmed in the NSW Budget.

More than a $100 million has been committed to completing the upgrade of the M4 Smart Motorway over the next 12 months.

A total of $107 million worth of funding, which was announced by NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet in his third budget today will go towards the implementation of a motorway management system, which being introduced on the M4 Motorway between Parramatta and Penrith, to increase trip reliability and improve road safety.

Western Sydney Minister Stuart Ayres said cash injections into motorways across Western Sydney was due to the fact that the region was a key economic driver of the State’s economy.

The estimated total cost of the project, which is expected to be complete next year, is $600 million with more that $380 million spent on the upgrades so far.
