HELLO guv’nor! The owners of a new Macquarie Park hotel want it to become the workers’ place to play.
The Colosimo family opened the doors of The Governor on Waterloo Rd on Tuesday to a stream of customers, many from nearby offices, keen to inspect its food, drinks and furnishings.
A beer garden, lengthy timber bar and spacious bistro dining room lend an up-market feel befitting early NSW governor Lachlan Macquarie.
Head chef Luke Lashford said the menu could suit all tastes.
“We’re hoping this can be a place a family can come for a Sunday lunch in a nice, relaxing atmosphere,” he said.
The drinks menu includes craft beers and cocktails, with beers starting at $7.50.
The Colosimo family are known for their pubs in The Hills district like the Hillside and Bella Vista hotels.
While they have ventured further afield, they have recruited former Eastwood and Landmark hotel licensee Greg Barclay as The Governor’s general manager.
He’s looking forward to opening the rooftop cocktail bar, called Ess, in the coming weeks.
“We’ll be creating a different world on the rooftop,” Mr Barclay said. “It will be very much Alice in Wonderland style.”
The Governor will have a courtesy bus running in a 5km radius, while buses and trains arrive and depart nearby.
The venue is open seven days for lunch and dinner.
