AN UPMARKET pub proposed for Macquarie Park would offer foods like lobster roll, Wagyu beef and ocean trout in its attempt to woo the business community.
The proponents of what would be called the Governor Hotel at Waterloo Rd have provided more details of their plans since the Northern District Times reported on them.
The hotel group said the Governor would provide three distinct dining experiences on each floor.
These would range from casual to fine dining.
The group operates Hills venues the Australian Hotel and Brewery, the Bella Vista Hotel and the Hillside Hotel.
CEO Marcello Colosimo said the hotel would allow locals to enjoy top quality food and beverages without needing to leave the area.
Not everyone is excited is about the proposal.
Staff from a nearby childcare centre have aired concerns about the pub’s trading hours of 7am-3am six days a week, and until midnight on Sundays.
They said this would result in anti-social behaviour and damage to their premises.
They also fear the pub would instil a drinking culture in front of children at the centre.
It said it had devised a strong plan of management to address any concerns, and will work closely with police.
The pub would promote a night economy in Macquarie Park, and provide employment for more than 50 people.
Ryde Council will decide whether to approve the plans. If approved, the pub would open in late 2017.
