The much-awaited new Gladesville Bunnings will be headed by one of its very own.

Proud Gladesville boy Mark Ommundson said he’s very excited to be opening the new Bunnings as complex manager saying the store was a direct investment in the local community.

Set across 18,500 sqm over two levels, the Victoria Rd store will include more than 170 staff with about 140 newcomers to the Bunnings family.

The store will include flash new wardrobe displays and a dream kitchen design centre featuring in-store kitchen experts and an elaborate range of everything from bench tops to splashbacks.

It will also feature a stunning open plan outdoor nursery, a landscape supplies yard, indoor playground and cafe.

For those into low maintenance, there will be a huge display of artificial plants and flowers which is a Bunnings first.

“We’re excited to bring a wide range of outdoor living and home improvement products to the Gladesville community, backed by great service from our team,” Mr Ommundson said.

New hire Courtney Simmons said she is very excited to work in the outdoor nursery.

“It’s so beautiful and full of colour. I love the open plan,” she said.

Keeping up with the ongoing DIY trend, the store will be stocked up with paints, indoor lights, storage and plants which were all seen to be the most popular items during the pandemic.

The Gladesville Bunnings will also include a multi-level carpark with more than 470 lots and a special drive through into the ground level of the store for customers and tradies to pick up and load bulk goods.

With the store being about 20 minutes from Rydalmere and Artarmon stores, the Victoria Road Bunnings is seen to be a more convenient option for those in the area.

Team member Mandie Dolan, who was hired in April, said she can’t wait for this weekend’s opening.

“It’s going to be great to see a lot of local people as well as the tradies,” she said.

Mr Ommundson said he can’t wait to open their doors for opening – and he’s sure the community are just as excited.

“We’ve had a few customers come in over the past weeks. One gentleman came in the other day and said he really wanted to buy something.

“We were like almost. Not yet,” he laughed.

The new Bunnings Gladesville which is located on the corner of Victoria Road and Frank Street is set to open this weekend (August 1).
